Social anxiety tries to adapt itself to the environment. Most of Kat's free time is spent writing fan fiction about the fictional Simon Snow series. Although they both once enjoyed fan fiction together, Ren distances himself from Kat, claiming that he has outgrown fan fiction. Kat becomes interested in her writing classes and meets Nick, who was her classmate, but she is not in a good mood, so her roommate Regan and Regan's friend "Levi" help her.

After Kat gets closer to Levi, she reveals that she is romantically interested in him. Just before the finale, Kat's father, who has bipolar disorder, starts making involuntary movements. Kat puts aside her exams and her final paper to take care of her father.
